Flywheel Equity is a real estate investment firm I founded to make institutional-quality multifamily and self-storage investments accessible to a broader range of investors. Based in Cary, NC, we focus on acquiring and operating workforce housing in secondary markets across the Southeast — places with strong population and job growth but lower asset valuations than major metros.
What we do
We acquire, reposition, and operate multifamily and self-storage properties in markets like Greensboro, Greenville, and Haw River. Our strategy is value-add: find properties with good fundamentals, improve operations and curb appeal, and generate returns through forced appreciation rather than market speculation.
Portfolio highlights
- 400+ units of multifamily and self-storage managed across North and South Carolina
- $10M+ in assets under management
- Properties include Morris Manor (51-unit value-add in Greensboro), Sunrise Self Storage, The Storage Room (200+ units in Greenville, SC), and a cabin short-term rental in the Blue Ridge mountains
Why it matters
My thesis is simple: affordable workforce housing in secondary markets is structurally undersupplied. The cost to build new is too high, so existing properties — well-operated — will continue to appreciate. At the same time, the shift toward renting as a long-term lifestyle choice means demand isn't going anywhere. I believe institutional-caliber real estate shouldn't be limited to the already wealthy, and I built Flywheel to prove that.
